Dottir Nordic Design
Dottir is a Danish brand specializing in ceramics. Their products reflect the rich tradition of Danish and Scandinavian design, combined with modern production methods and handmade craftsmanship.
The inspiration for the Dottir collection comes from the atmosphere of the North: the dark, cold winters and the light, warm summer nights, the deep, silent lakes, and the turbulent sea. Each product reflects the strong contrasts characteristic of the Nordic region.
Handmade ceramics
Many of the designs by Dottir Nordic Design take years to develop, as only a few producers worldwide can handle the unique design and intricate glazing processes. The products are finished in Dehua, Fujian in China, a region renowned for its ceramics, such as 'blanc de chine.' Ceramic production here dates back to the Ming dynasty.
Thora Finnsdottir studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and now works as a ceramist, designer, and artist. Her work is known for her passion for bringing recognizable shapes to life in new ways. With great precision and a sense of form, she challenges imagination and senses.
Scandinavian Design
The collection consists of a variety of products for the home. One of her most famous series is the Pipanella vases. Ceramic vases in different sizes and shapes with unique designs and a distinctive 'knot' on the front. The patterns on the vase and the knot are prints of existing reliefs. For example, the dot relief pattern comes from a dot relief non-slip mat for a kitchen drawer.
Winter Stories Candleholders
In addition to Pipanella, the Winter Stories candleholders are very popular during the winter and Christmas season. Beautiful ceramic scenes with trees and animals together.
