Lapuan Kankurit Koodi 130x180cm wool plaid blue light beige

Product description

The new KOODI plaid from Lapuan Kankurit is made of 100% wool and feels incredibly soft. This lightweight blanket is perfect for year-round use. The plaid has cheerful optimistic colors and has no fringes at the ends.

Lapuan Kankurit - KOODI plaid

The KOODI blanket is woven in Lapuan Kankurit's own weaving mill and finished in their new finishing factory in Lapua. The plaid is woven from wool yarn spun from certified Wool Integrity NZ fibres. The warp used is South American wool fiber, spun in Europe.

Origin of the KOODI plaid

The KOODI plaid was designed by Elina Helenius. The design arose from the idea of continuing the diamond patterns of the HUVILA blankets and using them to draw new shapes and rhythms. This was the idea behind the long woven fabric for Lapuan Kankurit 50th anniversary exhibition "Woven Journey" at Lapua Artmuseum 16.6.-9.9.2023. HUVILA's square motifs were grouped in a new order and formed exciting compositions. The total length of the exhibition canvas is 4.5 meters. KOODI was created from one of the compositions in this exhibition fabric.

Wool

Wool fibers from different parts of the world are different. The wool fibers that Lapuan Kankurit uses are high-quality, certified pure new wool from South America, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The wool yarn is mainly spun in Europe according to Oeko-Tex standard 100 and they guarantee that their wool is mulesing-free and certified.

Wool is known for its good insulating properties, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. The surface structure of wool fibers naturally repels water and makes the textile antibacterial and antimicrobial.

Wool is anti-static and odor and stain resistant, so it doesn't collect dust mites and doesn't need to be washed regularly. Wool is one of the most sustainable natural materials. Textiles made from these fibers can last for generations, but are also biodegradable - an ecological and sustainable choice.

Maintenance

You only have to wash the blanket if it is very dirty, otherwise hang the blanket outside in the fresh air for a while. Hand wash at max. 30°C or dry clean. If you use washing powder, dissolve it in plenty of water. Immerse the blanket in water and wash it immediately. Squeeze gently. Do not scrub, stretch or wring. Rinse thoroughly and squeeze out most of the water. Press the blanket between towels until it is half dry and let it dry in an airy place. Do not put in the dryer. Iron with a damp cloth, max. 150 ° C.

Lapuan Kankurit

Lapuan Kankurit's strategy is that they take responsibility for the entire production, from yarn to the final product. This is why most of their collection is made in their own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. If production is not possible there, they move to their partly owned factory in Lithuania.

Lapuan Kankurit has been around since 1917 and the fourth generation of weavers is currently at the helm. They are transparent about their products and can trace all materials back to their origin. A company that is proud of its professionals and knows how to innovate and experiment with them.
