Kay Bojesen Monkey
The famous Kay Bojesen Monkey was created in 1951 when Kay Bojesen wanted to make a coat hook at child height, so that his children could reach their clothes. Instead, he ended up creating a world-famous Danish design icon. Now the iconic Monkey has gotten his own set of clothes.
he Kay Bojesen Monkey was born in 1951 and is a high-quality piece of craftsmanship. Each monkey is unique, no two of them are exactly the same. The monkey will develop its personality even further if it is allowed to hang out in your house. Over time, the light and air will further develop the color nuances in the wood.
The monkey is available in small, medium and large versions. What they all have in common is that they are original wood creations. Kay Bojesen always gave his wooden figures a special soul. Each piece also had its own story and with their smiling lines, unique shapes and vibrant wood they have survived for many generations. According to Kay Bojesen, wood only comes to life if it has a story.
Craftsmanship
With a deep passion for craftsmanship and an eye for detail, Kay Bojesen has created an imaginative world of figures and objects that all have and will continue to leave their mark on Danish design. The figures they create and produce are often complex compositions and very detailed. That is why the craftsmanship behind it must always be the best of the best.
High Quality
Kay Bojesen products are all made to the highest quality. They use sustainable materials and proven craft techniques, because they believe that good design is reflected in good quality. For example, they have been using plantation teak for their animal figures since 1992 as a sustainable alternative to rainforest teak. They only use responsibly produced teak wood from FSC-certified plantations in their production.
Original stories in wood
Kay Bojesen always made his figures with soul. He was passionate about creating a story for each of his figures, and at Kay Bojesen, all their figures have their own story. Kay Bojesen's mantra was that the line should laugh and that is what he does in all his designs.
Original Danish design
Kay Bojesen is one of Denmark's largest and most renowned design names, and its crafts are among the most sought-after legacies that we proudly build on every day. Kay Bojesen has had a major impact on Danish design over the past year, both for his humor, which brought new life to an otherwise serious and strict design culture, and because he helped change the way children played.
