Marimekko Pieni Piirto Unikko cushion cover 50x50 cm straw/gold

This beautiful cushion cover from Marimekko in unbleached cotton and linen has the golden Pieni Piirto Unikko pattern, printed with metallic pigment in Helsinki. The cover has a zipper on one side and a narrow, flanged edge all around.

Made from 79% cotton (of which 46% of the cotton is recycled) and 21% recycled linen.

The cushions are made from the full width of the fabric, so the same cushion made from the same fabric can still differ slightly, because the pattern is slightly offset. This makes each cushion unique.

The cushion cover is supplied without inner cushion, but can be ordered directly when necessary. This cover fits a 50x50cm inner cushion.

Cushions on the couch

The Unikko cushion cover is very nice to combine with other cushions on the couch, with other Marimekko patterns or beautiful plain cushion covers, if you like something quieter.

The cushion cover is washable at 60 ° C, follow the washing instructions given by Marimekko. You can find them on the label on the cushion cover.

Marimekko series Unikko

The Unikko design was created in 1964 by Maija Isola and has since become an international icon of marimekko. Marimekko's founder, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to capture the true essence of real flowers in print. That is why floral prints were previously excluded from Marimekko's collections.

Maija Isola therefore designed Unikko as an abstraction of a flower instead of a photorealistic representation. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity.

2024 is the year that Marimekko celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Unikko design. Special editions, sometimes with a link in terms of colors to the 1960s, but also new designs are released that year.

Inner cushion

The cushion covers from Marimekko are supplied without inner cushion. You may still have a 50x50cm inner cushion in the house, if this is not the case, then you can order one immediately when you purchase the cover. The Marimekko white inner cushion is firm yet soft cushion that fits in every 50x50 cushion cover. The outside of the cushion is white and made of 100% cotton and is filled with polyester. The pillow can be washed at 40 ° C, use 1/3 less detergent than normal (see washing instructions on the pillow).
