Architectmade Owl Large oak H17cm

The Owl by Paul Anker Hansen, designed in 1960 for Architectmade has a rotating head that creates new, surprising expressions. Wonder, thoughtfulness and curiosity are just some of the expressions you can give the owl, making it able to reflect the same feelings we experience in everyday life.

The owl has a beautiful stylized shape and the expression you recognize in an owl. For years, the Owl was handmade by Poul Anker himself and it is still handmade, now in a smaller workshop. The owl is made of wood, with eyes of wenge and maple wood, and has a strong magnet, so that the head can easily be turned in different directions, creating a multitude of expressions.

Oak wood maintenance - Architectmade advice

Wood is a living material. This means that over time, if the material is exposed to sunlight or high humidity, for example, the colour can change slightly as the moisture content of the wood changes. In this case, they recommend sanding the products with fine sandpaper (preferably grit 220 or finer). This will also give the product a smooth surface again. To maintain the glow of the dark wood in the eyes, they recommend using beeswax balm or furniture wax, applied with a cotton bud.
