KunstIndustrien Wax Altar Candles white Ø5cm H20cm 58 burning hours

Product description

The Wax Altar candles from KunstIndustrien are truly handmade, each hand-cast and made from only first-class raw materials. The wicks are adapted to the diameter of the individual candle, which means that drips are rare and the burning time is extended. The Wax Altar candles contain RSPO stearin from controlled forestry and are EN tested for soot and fire safety.

Handmade Wax Altar Candles

Originally, the candles were handmade in the Catholic Church in Bredgade, Copenhagen, in the 1940s. 80 years later, the hand-poured candles are still the most important candles in the KunstIndustrien collection and still maintain the same high quality. Today they are made in their own family-run factory in Serbia.

The KunstIndustrien Wax Altar candles are made from RSPO stearin (RPO: Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and they are truly handmade. The only machine they use is an electric crucible and an old Grundfos pump. Everything else is done by hand by a highly experienced team of candle makers – from preparing the molds to packing the candles. The wicks are adapted to the diameter of the individual candle, so drips are rare. The wax altar candles burn steady, beautifully and longer than most candles.

The RSPO stearin comes from protected and facilitated forest (certified plantations) that does not harm wildlife.

EN-tested

Did you know there is an AND test for candles?
The Wax Altar candles are tested and approved according to EN15493 for fire safety and
EN16426 for soot behaviour. The result should be between 0 and 1, with 0 being the best. These candles scored very low at 0.04, making them some of the very best on the market.

5 general candle tips from KunstIndustrien for the best result from your candles:

1. Make sure the wick of the candle is no more than 1 cm long before lighting the candle. The candle will burn longer with a shorter wick and leakage will be prevented.

2. Extinguish your candle by dipping the wick into the liquid wax. This way you avoid the candle leaking and the candle is much easier to light the next time you use it.

3. Candles with a diameter of 8.5 cm and above should be trimmed. This means that you either gently press the edge inwards against the flame or cut off the edge. Both should be done within a few minutes of the candle being extinguished and while the wax is still soft.
A 10.5 cm candle can be left burning without trimming, this creates a lantern-like feeling. As a result, there is a chance that eventually the candle will flicker a bit. This is because it becomes increasingly short of oxygen, the further it burns. You can minimize this by making a few decorative holes in the wall of the candle at the height of the wick.

4. Never place the candle in a drafty area (window ceiling with old windows, above a stove, close to a vent or fan, in open doorways/hallways, etc.) - this will cause the candle to run, or more towards one side burn, or both.

5. Never use an outdoor candle indoors. If you do this, you run the risk of the candle dripping, which will settle into furniture and carpets.
Outdoor candles should also NOT be used in lanterns - even if placed outside - as they are considered indoor and enclosed spaces. Use an indoor candle instead! Outdoor candles may only be used in free open outdoor areas.
