Flensted Mobiles Tango black 85x100cm

Product description

This Tango mobile from Flensted Mobiles has black elements and also a black wooden ball. Is there anything more sensual than a couple moving across a dance floor in a tango? Like a tango, balance is the essence of this mobile.

Mobile Tango from Flensted Mobiles

You can add an absolute eye-catcher to your home with this Tango mobile with black parts. Just like in a tango, the elements revolve around each other, elegant and yet powerful due to the shape. The nice thing about the mobiles is that they provide very subtle movement in the house, sometimes almost invisible and sometimes more present depending on the movement in the room. Super soothing to look at and nice to have a little exercise in the house. Give it a nice spot in the corner of your living room or above your bed, so that you can enjoy it while lying down and fall asleep.

  • Design: Ole Flensted
  • Year: 1998
  • Material: plastic, wood
  • Size: 85x100cm
  • Location: handmade on Funen (DK)
  • Extra: only suitable for indoor use

This mobile is largely already prepared, it is up to you to finish it. You will slide the black parts to the rods yourself. It is most convenient to hang the mobile first, possibly in a temporary place, so that you can easily reach it. As soon as it hangs, slide the plastic black parts onto the rods, according to the enclosed manual. Once you have placed all the parts and the mobile is still, you can align them, meaning more or less from the side of the rod, so that the mobile is in balance and the different 'layers' do not touch each other when turning. It may sound complicated, but it certainly isn't, as soon as you get started it becomes self-evident.

Additional tips:

  • A mobile is designed to be a feast for the eyes and a sting for the imagination.
  • Hang the mobile away from direct sunlight to prevent the colors from fading and the shapes distorting.
  • Hang the mobile in a place where there is some movement of air, but no strong draft. A slow, silent movement is the essence of the mobile.
  • Do not hang the mobile outside.
  • Where possible, hang the mobile on a subdued, uniform background. A corner position against light-colored walls is often the best location.
  • Hang the mobile in the light of a lamp if possible. The shadow cast by the mobile on a wall or ceiling gives the mobile an extra dimension. A candle is a concentrated light source that produces clear, well-defined shadows.
  • Try to hang the mobile so that you can look at it while listening to music. You see the mobile moving to the rhythm of the music.
  • Most of the mobiles are "super light", many don't weigh much more than a form letter. This allows hanging from the ceiling with very simple means and a very small nail, even a thumbtack or with a tesa power strip, is sufficient. Only some of the very large mobiles require a small hook.
  • Hang out of the reach of children. It's not a toy.

Flensted Mobiles = 100% Danish design

A Flensted mobile is not only designed in Denmark, it is also handmade in Denmark. Their first mobile, the stork mobile, was assembled by Christian and Grethe themselves. Due to the great success, they soon couldn't keep up with the demand and started asking their neighbors for help with assembling the mobiles. This resulted in the Flensted home workers concept. Instead of having 60 people drive to a factory every day to assemble mobiles, they work from their own homes scattered across the island of Funen. Every two weeks, all home workers are visited to give them supplies for new mobiles in exchange for assembled ones, which are packaged and ready to ship. Flensted has been using this production method for over 60 years. It saves more than 15 tons of fuel per year.

Timeless design

An important feature of all Flensted Mobiles is their timelessness. In addition, the great diversity of themes. You obviously have a Christmas theme, but animals are also an important theme in the collection. On the other hand, there is also a wide range of abstract mobiles. Who else but Ole Flensted could imagine a Mozart symphony as mobile? Music is perhaps the closest, to the effect of mobiles, with their balance, rhythm and constant movement. The best movement is obtained by finding the exact equilibrium point. Each mobile is carefully assembled and balanced by skilled hands.

The philosophy in their product design and process is the concentration on a combination of aesthetics, ethics and sustainability. They strive to use the best possible quality in materials to ensure that the mobiles can be passed down from generation to generation as heirlooms.

Move your world
There is a Flensted mobile for everyone, whether you like color or black and white, whether you are young or old. Even in an apparently quiet room, the mobiles can catch the slightest airflow and dance for you. Just like being completely absorbed in music, watching the slow motion of a mobile is a remedy for stress.

If you have a Flensted Mobile in mind, but it is not yet available from us, please let us know and we will see if we can include it in our collection.

Family business

Flensted Mobiles is a Danish family business passed down from generation to generation. The very first mobile was created in 1953 by Christian and Grethe Flensted. This was the 'Danish Lucky Storks', which he made especially for the christening of his daughter Mette. A Flensted mobile is handmade in Denmark with a perfect combination of love, dedication and quality, giving you a unique design. Flensted Mobiles has been a family business for generations; Grethe and Christian Flensted were at the helm for 28 years before their son Ole and his wife Aase took over in 1982.
