Architectmade Bird oak Chubby H10.5cm
The BIRD is one of the iconic wooden objects in the collection of the Danish brand Architectmade. The unique thing about this design is the movable head of the bird, which you can tilt in almost any direction. This allows you to create endless different expressions.
BIRD - Architectmade
The Bird is a design by the Danish Kristian Vegel, created as a family, from small to large, slim to chubby, child to grandparent. The Bird series represents an entire generation. The head lies loose on the lower body, which makes it easy to change the appearance and look of the bird.
Each bird is made with a unique passion and understanding for both the product and the material. Together with precision and a drive for perfection, this is combined to create the perfect Bird - every time. The high-quality materials and timeless design ensure that the BIRD will last for years and is passed on from generation to generation.

Design: Kristian Vegel
Kristian Solmer Vedel (2 March 1923 – 5 March 2003) was a Danish industrial designer and part of the Scandinavian design movement.
Life
Influenced by Kaare Klint and the German Bauhaus school, his "classic modern" designs are characterised by the creative use of materials, especially plastics and wood, and a strong sense of ergonomic and functional requirements. A typical example is his children's furniture, which could be adapted to a growing child, turned over to be used as a toy.
In an interview, Kristian Vedel expressed his point of view as follows:
The starting point for the work of an industrial artist must always be that he, from his own point of view, and as objectively as possible, takes a stand with regard to what he feels society and his fellow human beings need; he must personally take a stand on the existing possibilities and responsibilities.

Oak wood maintenance - Architectmade advice
Wood is a living material. This means that over time, if the material is exposed to sunlight or high humidity, for example, the colour can change slightly as the moisture content of the wood changes. In this case, they recommend sanding the products with fine sandpaper (preferably grit 220 or finer). This will also give the product a smooth surface again. To maintain the glow of the dark wood in the eyes, they recommend using beeswax balm or furniture wax, applied with a cotton bud.
